“It is true that the ancient and noble city of Oxford is, of all the towns of England, the likeliest progenitor of unlikely events and persons. But there are limits.”
― Edmund Crispin
Little did I know just a year back when I arrived at Oxford for the first time how much sense the above would make to me. ‘Unreal’ would be a complete understatement if I am to give this experience a tag, and I’m not the biggest fan of tags.
So as my journey unfolds in the ‘City of Dreaming Spires‘, there is so much to say and shout out to the world at large, a blog hardly does any justice to my gamut of experiences. Not to say that this is a perfunctory day in my eventful life here at Oxford, but a rather unusual one. It’s my first experience of having a professional outdoor photo shoot. Being the Face of Oxford– this season has helped me get in touch with some truly experienced and talented people like- Julia Cleaver and Brian Worley, with whom I had a subtle photographic expedition on the 20th of November,2014.
After the Oxford Fashion week there was a bit of a lull on the media side, but I was intermittently involved in the events at the Cross modal research Lab- at Oxford University. It was somewhere during this period that I got a message from Julia Cleaver – one of my favorite photographers at the Oxford Fashion Week mentioning that she and Brian Worley, the Owner of P4Pictures– a photography school in Oxford were going to be in town and were interested in doing some late evening outdoor shoots in Oxford.
The locations we zeroed in on were the Natural History Museum where I had the finale ‘Birds of Paradise‘ show for the Oxford Fashion Week, the Sheldonian theatre, the Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera and bit of the Bridge of Sighs. All so different yet so similar to one another in architecture, type and form. It makes a particularly picturesque location for a photo-shoot. And thus we, headed out on this adventure ”making some magic” – the way Julia and I refer to working together.
Due to the enormity of these larger than life locations and the spontaneity of our shoot, perhaps the details of the background have not been captured to the fullest- but in the shoots to follow more emphasis will be laid upon the spectacular background so the readers can have an idea of what was around me and where I live- but for now – I have hyper-linked the locations in the above paragraph for you kind, kind perusal….
Combined with Brian’s expertise on the technicalities of lighting, we had a small yet unstoppable team, until the harsh weather got the better of us! This is when we decided to call it a night over a drink at Jude the Obscure over some exchange of ideas, networking and some Red’s.
Many more posts and updates/news to follow upon confirmation. A few assignments in the UK and perhaps something on the horizon in Bollywood . Stay tuned in !
Thank you,
